Requirements for adoptions from the Philippines:

• Must be married 3 years or lived together in a common law relationship that culminated in marriage.
• Second marriages must be married 5 years. A spouse with 2 previous marriages is acceptable.
• Singles are eligible for children age 5 and older.
• There must be no more than 47 years age difference between both parents and child.
• Religious membership of at least five years is required.
• Applicants are accepted from anywhere in the U.S.
• At least one applicant must be a U.S. citizen.

Children Needing Families:

• Mostly boys, 2 years and older. Sibling groups are available.
• Healthy and special needs children.
• Children in foster care and orphanage settings. The orphanages are small and administer a group home style of care.
• The general health of the children is good. Developmental delays due to institutionalization are common.

Average Costs:

• $15,000.00 for agency fees and in-country processing fees.
• Dossier preparation and travel are extra.

Travel:

• While both parents are encouraged to travel, only one is required.
• Stay in the Philippines is usually 7 days.

Estimated Time Frames:

• Upon approval of dossier in the Philippines, it is estimated that a family will be referred to a specific child within 12-18 months.
• The average time from match to travel is 4-5 months.
• Children with special needs are usually available for match immediately upon ICAB’s approval of a home study.
